BNP Paribas’ Securities Services business has a robust development programme tackling relevant use cases where APIs are best placed to overcome connectivity challenges. Through this programme, the bank develops new APIs and functionalities on a regular basis.

As part of its recent developments, Securities Services at BNP Paribas has completed its API catalogue, granting a significantly extended coverage, including:

  • Cash account information, providing balances, statements and operations
  • Securities accounts holdings, providing valuation and position information
  • Net Asset Valuation (NAV), providing current and historical net asset value details of funds, along with all the data used for the calculation and monitoring
  • Settlement status, providing status on transactions processing
  • Transfer agent for investors, providing orders status, contract notes and positions
  • Transfer agent for asset managers, providing orders status, contract notes and positions
  • CSDR penalties, providing daily and monthly settlement penalties from the Central Securities Depositories Regulation (CSDR)
  • Fund@ccess, providing fund prospectus information on the list of funds available (e.g. fund and share classes, NAV and subscription/redemption rules, transfer agent name and country) and order confirmations
  • Corporate actions, providing event announcement details, response acknowledgements and advices
  • DEC information, providing derivatives positions and trades, margin calls/simulation and cash amount computation for recalls and automatic settlement

In addition to these APIs, Securities Services at BNP Paribas has developed a new webhook feature, which is currently in production for the NAV API, and to be further implemented into other APIs. Through this feature, clients are notified as soon as new data is available for consumption, allowing them to pull data through the API at the right time, pushing a step closer to real-time access to data.

Jean-Marc Friess, Chief Digital Services Officer for Securities Services at BNP Paribas, said:

“There is much efficiency to be gained by our clients, by us as provider, and, I think, by the market at large really, through the further adoption of APIs. Using an API coupled with webhook capabilities, we’ve seen NAVs coming through significantly faster than via traditional channels. There are some cases where APIs are the uncontested channel of choice to attain maximum efficiency.”

About our APIs

We have been building APIs leveraging Google Apigee in order to attain a degree of standardisation and facilitate adoption. Standardisation also ensures greater consistency in the sharing and use of data, and reduces the scope for misinterpretation.

You can discover our growing set of APIs, conveniently available to our clients in an API Store. It includes API documentation and information, allowing prospective users to understand the purpose of each API and plan for the integration of live APIs.
