Reducing the environmental impact

All over the world, BNP Paribas Securities Services seeks to limit the potential environmental impact of its business, as well as the direct consequences of its own operations.

This primarily involves reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by the energy consumed by buildings and employee business trips, promoting responsible paper consumption and managing waste responsibly.

Due to the nature of its business, BNP Paribas Securities Services is not exposed to any specific environmental risk. It isn’t a source of pollution (noise or other), nor is it a major consumer of water.

Our environmental performance in 2016
WATER
8.95 m3 per employee (FTE), which represents a 19% decrease in consumption per FTE compared to 2015.
PAPER
600 tonnes of paper was consumed or 58 kg/FTE, which represents a 18% reduction compared to 2012.

WASTE
1,802 tonnes of waste was generated, which represents a 15% improvement compared to 2012.
Biodiversity
We continue to maintain five beehives with more than 200,000 bees on the green roof of our offices in Pantin.
We set up a vegetable growing area on our headquarters’ campus in Patin to raise awareness of urban agriculture and recycling among our colleagues. This comes complete with a bird house and insect hotel to help the local eco-system.
