Securities Services was crowned ‘Best Middle Office Service Provider’ at With Intelligence’s recent Hedge Fund Services Awards APAC 2026, held in Hong Kong.

HFM spoke to Alvin Chan, our Director Sales and Relationship Manager, Securities Services on the back of the team’s win.

What does winning this award mean to you?

It is a great privilege and a testament to our team’s hard work and unwavering devotion to excellence. While BNP Paribas is originally a European bank , this award serves as a powerful demonstration of our deep-seated commitment to the APAC market. It demonstrates our ability to combine global institutional strength with local expertise, and we are honored that the industry recognises our excellence in delivering first-class services to the regional hedge fund community.

How has the past year been for you and your team?

The past year has been marked by significant growth and strategic expansion. In 2023, we signed an exclusive agreement to integrate HSBC’s hedge fund administration business. This brings a number of significant new clients onto our platform, and we completed all onboarding smoothly and on schedule last year. This growth is a direct result of our commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.

Furthermore, while our core expertise in Hedge Fund Administration and Global Custody remains our foundational “bread and butter,” we have successfully expanded our capabilities by building sophisticated, value-added layers on top of these core services to address the evolving middle-office requirements of our clients.

How are you preparing your internal resources/tech tools to deal with shifting market requirements?

We are proactively enhancing our technological ecosystem, specifically by integrating Artificial Intelligence and advanced automation to fine-tune our internal processes and increase precision. However, we view technology as an enabler rather than a replacement; while we leverage AI to optimise workflows and data accuracy, world-class client service remains the absolute cornerstone of our business. Our goal is to use these advanced tools to remove operational friction, thereby freeing up our experts to provide even deeper, more personalised support to our clients.

What are the themes/market movements and structural shifts that are contributing to your business approach going forwards?

We are observing a significant shift where hedge fund managers are moving away from fragmented service providers in favor of more integrated, holistic partnerships.

At BNP Paribas, we do not operate as a single-service provider; instead, we leverage our “One Bank” approach to meet this demand. Across our investment bank, one of the leading providers of Prime Services and Capital Markets , we are able to provide full life-cycle support to fund managers. This integrated model allows us to navigate market volatility and regulatory complexities more effectively than a traditional, siloed service provider could.

Are you seeing a shift in the priorities/profile of your clients and how are you adapting to this?

Yes, there is a clear transition in client priorities. Modern managers are increasingly looking for scalability and “single-source” efficiency to manage their entire operational workflow. They are looking to reduce the complexity of dealing with multiple vendors and are prioritising deeper middle-office integration.

We are adapting by doubling down on our ability to wrap our high-touch, expert service around our core administration and custody platforms, ensuring we provide comprehensive, integrated solutions that enable our clients to focus entirely on their core alpha-generating activities.
